Hello and Happy Weekend!
Our feet haven't touched the ground since last Sunday's Pinterest party. What a great day with fantastic people.
We promised to follow up on all of our "pinned" ideas so you can delight in creating them too. Today, we're going to talk about our Fall Tablescape.
I always love Fall, but there's something exceptionally special about THIS Fall and all its glorious colors. Is it just me - or has the drought brought upon the most amazing Fall changing of the leaves ever? Thank you, Mother Nature.
Since that Mother Nature seems to know her stuff, we took a few cues from her when it came to tablescaping for our 50 Shades of Fall Pinterest Party. We used her very own fruits, colors and textures to build a natural, casually elegant tablescape.
First, we layered our table with natural and cream burlap. We love the texture burlap brings and it's a perfectly neutral backdrop for almost any color palette, especially Fall's - and at $6.99/yard, the price is right, too.
We visited our local farmer's market and bought LOTS of Fall fruits and vegetables like pumpkins, squashes, and gourds in varying colors and sizes. Our favorite find is the hero in the above photo - the ginormous squash - which we felt compelled to buy because it was... ginormous. And only $7.00. We weren't sure how we would use the squash when we bought it, we just knew we had to. Ultimately, we decided it would be the perfect shooter-holder because, let's face it - good shooter-holders are hard to come by! Using a Freud 2" drill-bit, we drilled an inch and a half down into the squash exposing the bright orange pulp, and nestled the amber ale shooters right into the holes. We couldn't help but think this baby would make an awesome tea-light display as well, but again, the need for a good shooter-holder prevailed.
Since the mini-pumpkins are soooo stinking cute, we hollowed-out a few and took them over to our friends at BoKAY Flowers and asked them to fill them with fresh blooms. We all went ga-ga over these I tell you!
Our fancy servers were made from fancy, white pumpkins. Pay attention, this one is tricky. Find a level pumpkin, remove the stem and place your platter on top. One more time... find a level pumpkin, remove the stem and place your platter on top. ;) We also like the idea of stacking a couple of pumpkins to get varying heights from your servers, but you may need to get a little McGuyver-ish in order to make this version work. We suggest using metal bamboo skewers as a stabilizer if you go with the stacked version.
A large pumpkin, served as our cooler. To make your own, simply cut the top one-third from the pumpkin and remove the pulp. We placed a plastic bag inside the pumpkin and folded the bag (slightly) over the edge to create a liner. Add ice and your beverage of choice...it's a party!
Our tablescape would not have been complete without the amazing Pinterest-inspired foods and beverages... and all of the trinkets and trays upon which they were served. Visit our on-line store and shop For the Home for metal trays and dishes. If you're looking for recipes we used for the event .. please follow our blog as we will continue posting about our Pinterest event in days to come.
Happy Fall Y'all. :)
